Sai Kishore Stars as Gloucestershire Crush Derbyshire by 213 Runs

Gloucestershire produced a dramatic turnaround at the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol, defeating Derbyshire by 213 runs in the Rothesay County Championship Division Two after Sai Kishore led a decisive final-session bowling attack.

Derbyshire, set 319 for victory, were dismissed for just 105 inside 39 overs. India international Sai Kishore was the main architect of the collapse, finishing with 5-20 from 18 overs as spin accounted for all 10 Derbyshire wickets.

The result earned Gloucestershire 19 points and ended a run of six consecutive defeats. Derbyshire collected three points from the match, according to the match result provided.

Hammond and Bracey put Gloucestershire in control

Gloucestershire began the match in difficult circumstances after being reduced to 37-5 on the opening day.

Their fortunes changed dramatically in the second innings. Miles Hammond and James Bracey built a 165-run fourth-wicket partnership, taking Gloucestershire to 359-5 declared.

Hammond made 118, his third first-class century of the season and eighth overall. Bracey remained unbeaten on 104 and became the first Gloucestershire player to score two centuries in a first-class match since Alex Gidman achieved the feat in 2007.

Bracey's second century of the match also made him the first Gloucestershire wicketkeeper to register twin hundreds in a game since Harry Smith in 1919.

Derbyshire collapse under pressure

Derbyshire resumed with Gloucestershire at 149-3 and had opportunities to restrict the home side's advantage.

Shoaib Bashir dropped Bracey when he was on five, while Matt Montgomery missed a return catch from Hammond, who was then on 77.

Hammond and Bracey capitalised on those chances. Hammond eventually departed for 118 after Montgomery took the catch at mid-wicket from Martin Andersson.

Bracey then completed his fifth century of the season from 143 balls, including seven fours and two sixes, before Gloucestershire declared.

Sai Kishore takes control

Derbyshire needed an ambitious scoring rate to reach their target, but Gloucestershire immediately turned to spin and surrounded the bat with close fielders.

Kishore struck twice in his first over after tea, removing Harry Came lbw before bowling Montgomery.

He then dismissed Wayne Madsen, who was caught at second slip, leaving Derbyshire at 32-3.

The pressure continued when Mohammed Bin Naeem was trapped lbw by Ollie Price. Derbyshire had fallen to 41-6 when Kishore removed Aneurin Donald and Brooke Guest in three deliveries.

The five-wicket haul was completed inside eight overs as the slow left-armer continued to trouble the Derbyshire batting order.

Price and Middleton complete the rout

Ed Middleton joined the attack and dismissed Ben Aitchison, caught by Price at second slip, with Derbyshire on 76-7.

Martin Andersson provided the visitors' strongest resistance, scoring 35 before Middleton drew him forward and had him caught at first slip.

Price then removed Jack Morley lbw before trapping Brett Randell in front, completing Gloucestershire's victory.

Price finished with match figures of 9-104, while Middleton took 2-17 in Derbyshire's second innings.

A remarkable turnaround for Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire's victory was particularly significant given their position after the opening day. Having been reduced to 37-5, they recovered to post 237 in their first innings before their second-innings batting and aggressive spin attack secured a comprehensive result.

Both of Gloucestershire's wins this season have now come against Derbyshire.

The victory gives the bottom-placed Gloucestershire side a much-needed boost after six successive defeats, while Derbyshire leave Bristol having been unable to withstand Gloucestershire's spin-heavy attack.
