New Clinical Trials Show 90% Success Rate for Personalized Cancer Vaccine
In Short (TL;DR)

The vaccine uses mRNA sequenced from the patient's own tumor cells, training the immune system to recognize and attack specific mutations unique to that cancer.

BOSTON — Custom mRNA vaccines tailored to match specific mutations in a patient's tumor cells have successfully prevented cancer recurrence in 90% of participants during a landmark phase-II clinical trial.

The trial monitored 140 patients who had undergone surgical removals for high-risk melanomas and pancreatic carcinomas.

Custom Immunotherapy Mapping Traditional chemotherapies target all fast-growing cells, leading to severe side effects. The personalized vaccine uses mRNA strings created from genetic sequencing of the patient's individual tumor. Once injected, the vaccine instructs the patient's immune system to seek out and destroy any remaining cancer cells.

"We are teaching the body's immune system to build its own bespoke defense grid," explained the Director of Clinical Oncology. "By targeting patient-specific mutations, we eliminate recurrence vectors while keeping healthy tissue unharmed."
